Moors Otter Trail
A dream come true ever since I was given a copy of 'Tarka the Otter' at the age of 8, I was given the opportunity to design and make an otter for display. Inspired by my Grandad, Sam Rainey and his battle against Alzheimer's, I designed the otter to have forget me not flowers over his body, made by people living with dementia, their friends and carers. Aged 8-84 years old, people came together to make a flower, learning the skills to use tile nippers to cut the shapes. Each flower is dedicated to someone and has it's own story. The otter and cub became 'Sam Rainey and Grandchild' and will be displayed in on the Moor Otters Trail in Newton Abbot along with 80 other otters on the trail.
Unfortunately the launch date of the trail has been postponed until 2021 due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.
Glynne Primary School
An exciting ongoing project with the whole school to renovate the Gaudi garden, into an area of reflection and quiet. This is a great 6 month project working with every year group. Years 1 through to 6 will learn how to use equipment safely and cut ceramic tiles and plates to produce 6 large panels. Each panel will have a theme, including history of the area, keeping active, and imagination. Years 5 and have come together to chose the best designs and then Rachel will put them together to form a mosaic. Once the idea is formed the children will cut, and stick the tiles and plates onto the design.
We are not forgetting Nursery and Reception, they have the exciting task of joining up the panels with bees and butterflies made from tiles cut by older children.
Photographs are currently embargoed, but will be up for the grand reveal in March. (Unfortunately Covid 19 has postponed this project reveal).
